What is the difference between chartering a yacht and buying a yacht ?

Charter a yacht means renting it for a limited period, either with or without a crew. It’s ideal for vacations or special events.

Buy a yacht refers to purchasing the vessel for personal or commercial use. Ownership allows full control but also involves ongoing maintenance and mooring costs.

Are children allowed on all yachts ?

Many yachts are family-friendly and cater well to children, with some even specifically designed with young guests in mind.

However, certain yachts may have age restrictions or require that a nanny be present during the charter.

Please note that the crew is not responsible for supervising or babysitting children. Make sure to inform your Bluewater broker early in the planning process if your group includes children.

Is smoking allowed on board the yacht?

In general, smoking is not allowed inside the majority of yachts.

However, policies can differ depending on the vessel, so please check with us for confirmation.

For safety purposes, smoking is strictly forbidden in all cabins and staterooms. Some yachts may permit smoking in specific outdoor sections.

What are the charter payment conditions ?

To secure your booking, a 50% deposit of the total charter cost is required via bank transfer upon signing the Charter Agreement.

The remaining balance including the Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA), applicable taxes, delivery or return fees, and any other agreed-upon expenses must be paid by bank transfer no later than one month prior to the start of the charter.

What is the appropriate tip for the crew ?

Tipping the crew is optional, but it’s a common practice to show appreciation for excellent and attentive service.

A typical gratuity is around 10% of the total charter cost, though this can be adjusted based on your overall experience.

To ensure all crew members are fairly acknowledged including those behind the scenes like chefs and engineers it’s recommended to give the tip to the captain, who will distribute it equally among the team.

How do I confirm my selected yacht ?

To finalize your booking, a signed contract is required.

Once your preferred yacht’s availability has been confirmed, you’ll be provided with a standard Charter Agreement to sign.

If your itinerary involves boarding or leaving the yacht at a location other than its home port, additional positioning fees (for delivery or return) may apply.
These costs, along with any relevant taxes, will be outlined and agreed upon in the Charter Agreement in advance.
